We all love a walk with our four legged friends – but what are the best walks to take around the Minehead and Somerset area?

  1. CULVERCLIFF

Turn left out of the cottages and walk along the seafront past the old harbour to Culvercliffe. Here your dog can run free on a flat grassy area while you enjoy beautiful sea views.

  1. HOPCOTT WOODS

Walk up onto Wootton Common [ or park at Hopcott carpark ] and walk along the ridge to the historic village of Dunster. The Castle grounds are dog friendly.

  1. NORTH HILL

Take the footpath at the side of the cottages and walk up onto North Hill. Here you will find an endless variety of scenic walks for you and your dog.

  1. SOUTH WEST COASTAL PATH

This 630 mile coastal walk starts directly opposite the cottages with superb coastal walking and moorland views. Dogs are permitted on the entire path but it will take at least 30 days the total length of the path to Poole in Dorset!

  1. BEACH WALKS

The main bathing beach in Minehead opposite the cottages is between the harbour and the golf club. Dogs are allowed here between October and April. Dogs are however, allowed all year round on the beach beyond the harbour and the golf course as well as nearby Dunster and Blue Anchor beaches.

  1. EXMOOR NATIONAL PARK

Minehead is the gateway to Exmoor. Here there are numerous dog friendly walks including woodland and riverside trails at Horner and spectacular views at Selworthy where you can call in at the tea garden for a cream tea in a dog friendly setting.

  1. WEST SOMERSET STEAM RAILWAY

Take the steam train from Minehead station choosing one of the many stops to alight and explore the beautiful Somerset countryside and coast. All of the trains welcome dogs.

Bonus Walk – Just up the road from the cottage is The Old Ship Aground which is a dog friendly pub with views across the harbour. Let them know your dog is coming and they can organise the right sized table.
